Founding member, Eloise Wendorff Dikis

A memorial service was held June 10th of 2008, in honor of Eloise Dikis, charter member of UCSB and for whom our sanctuary is named. Sixteen members of our congregation attended and paid their respect. Eloise was our oldest church member, having celebrated her 102nd birthday in January. Her daughter-in-law, Kim Wendorff, can be heard on our Church at Home page, singing "My Tribute", which has become the theme song for our church.

She leaves behind her son, Rick and his wife,Magda, her granddaughter, Susie, and her great-grandsons, Alex and Max.

Over the years Eloise donated much of her time to service programs of the Salvation Army, including Meals-On-Wheels, convalescent hospital programs and shut-in visits. She helped many who are twenty or thirty years her junior! In addition, Eloise authored the book "The Twelve powers of Animals" which is used in many Unity Sunday schools today and can be purchased in our book store. Our own Phyllis Ford did the illustrations for the book.

We are so grateful to have had Eloise as a faithful member of our church for so many years and we are truly blessed to have four generations of her family in our congregation. And Thank You to the Dikis, Wendorff and Kokka families for your constant love, support and generosity.

WE WILL MISS YOU, ELOISE! YOU WILL REMAIN AN INSPIRATION TO ALL WHO KNEW YOU! WE WILL ALL STEP LIVELY TO KEEP UP WITH YOUR LEGACY!
