Teen Power with Daily Word Congratulations to Y.O.U. graduates, Michaeline Luther and Anja Freeman.Unity of South Bay is blessed with children of all ages. We have the Unitots, Unikids, Unitweens, Uniteens, and the Y.O.U. Youth of Unity. In our new building the parents,and/or caretakers of infants and the Unitots can listen and watch the service while having fun with their young charges. The Unikids range includes age 4 through third grade. We teach Unity's Living Curriculum, which explores spiritual principles and includes prayer and meditation, a Bible selection, original stories or stories from contemporary literature, discussion ideas, creative expression through role playing, art, activities or games, and songs. Unitween (Grades Fourth and Fifth) and Uniteen Class, (Grades Sixth and Seventh) The curriculum focuses on the 12 Powers of Man, developed by Charles Fillmore, co-founder of Unity. It is designed to encourage young people to explore life as a spiritual journey through stories, discussion, prayer, meditation and connections to their daily life. Stories and experiential processes actively involve the youth in the lesson. Curriculum: Y.O.U. - Youth of Unity (High School) The curriculum for Youth of Unity comes from a variety of sources and focuses mainly on the same message topics delivered to the adults and based on basic Unity principles. Unity of South Bay Teens also lead the way for empowering lives with the Daily Word. Each month one teen will be featured in the Youth Spotlight section (please stop in for a visit at the link below.) All of our children love to meet new kids and we welcome you into our family Unity Church of South Bay is strongly committed to providing exciting, creative, substantive, age-appropriate programs for our children and those in the surrounding community. The unflagging commitment of church member volunteers makes possible childcare services as well as Unikids, Uniteens, and YOU programs each Sunday. In addition, UCSB is committed to specifically engaging our kids in at least four intergenerational services each year for Palm Sunday, Church Family Day, World Day of Prayer, and Christmas Candlelighting. Our youth assist in the planning of these services and have integral roles in the service along with adult members of the congregation, including presentation of skits, prayer, recitation of readings and poems, serving as greeters, and more. Over the years, our Uniteens and Y.O.U.ers have also enjoyed participating in regional camps and rallies and, as of this year, an overnight retreat organized and presented by UCSB sponsors. At UCSB, we know that children are the future of the world. We consider it a privilege and precious gift from God to serve them. Sue Luther and Liberty Thyme |
